Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club recently held Mandurah’s largest major fishing competition in a decade, thanks to the generous support of local businesses.
Companies like Scavenger, who believe strongly in not only supporting but in participating in the community, gave a timely donation of a fire extinguisher and blanket, along with many other small businesses who appreciate the value of bringing people together.
Developing annual attractions in the region is pivotal to the economy and helping those who work or invest local industry are supported. One of the best ways to do this is by events that showcase the region beyond its borders.
Cash prizes on the day were given out for heaviest groper, cod, bream, flathead and many other fish Mandurah is fortunate to have populations of in the surrounding waters. In total, there were 15 different species of fish, making it, well, fair game for all competitors. A mystery fish attracted a prize of $1,000; not bad for spending a fun day with fellow fishermen and women.
